I had originally wanted to come to Westender under the pretense that we could get samgyupsal here, but turns out that while they do serve the pork belly meat, you no longer get to barbeque it yourself. Instead, you get a meager amount of grilled pieces for ~$10. This was pretty disappointing since previous reviews of the restaurant boasted of $12 meals that included everything. So we opted for shabu shabu as an alternative, which was about $30.

Morak Korean Fusion Restaurant
Morak is a somewhat new establishment near Metrotown that replaced the former Tomoya Japanese restaurant. Upon arriving, I noticed a sign that mentioned checking in to their Facebook page for a free dish of spicy rice cake stew (dukbokki) so that's exactly what I did after being seated.

Seok Gi Si Dae
Seok Gi Si Dae is a family run Korean restaurant in Burquitlam that I've been wanting to visit for a while now after reading reviews on the place about the atypical barbecue experience here. The restaurant is split into two rooms, one with a few tables and chairs while the bigger, adjoining room has floor tables where you're sitting on the ground. The two meats that you can choose from for barbecuing include Kimchi Porkbelly ($15.95/person) or Boneless Beef Rib ($20.97/person). Both options come with egg soup, miso soup and a choice of steamed or kimchi-fried rice. For my group of friends and I, we decided to go with just porkbelly.

Dae Bak Bon Ga
After running some errands in the neighbourhood, my boyfriend and I stopped by Dae Bak Bon Ga, a korean restaurant and karaoke place in Kitsilano, for a quick bite. When we first entered, we were weirded out by the fact that the restaurant was completely empty, even though it was almost 2 in the afternoon on a weekend. It stayed that way through out our meal, with only two other patrons coming in to order take out. Despite this, the service was friendly and prompt.

Cho Sun
Cho Sun is a Korean restaurant that I have frequented often since high school. Two of my favorite dishes here are the jampong (spicy seafood noodles) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). The former comprises of Korean ramen type of noodles while the later consists of thin noodles made from buckwheat (most commonly).

Haroo
Haroo is a cozy Korean restaurant found on Alexandra Road in Richmond. Venturing out to Richmond to eat is normally a rare occurrence for me so I had high hopes for this popular place.

Meok Ja Gol
Meok Ja Gol (MJG) is a rather hard to spot Korean restaurant near Metrotown. This place has undergone a change of name and menu, and is now known as Jang-ter Korean Barbeque and/or MJG. When I visited the restaurant with my boyfriend at around 3PM, the restaurant was literally empty besides one single other patron. We probably should have taken that as a sign.

Potter's Garden
Potter's Garden is a Korean restaurant found among the many other food places along Kingsway. My first visit to this restaurant was with my friends late one night and I had ordered the Bibim Naengmyeon, cold buckwheat noodles mixed in spicy sauce with vegetables and half a boiled egg. I really enjoyed the meal at the time and I was hoping to come back again. A month or so later, I returned with my boyfriend on two separate occasions for lunch.
During the first visit, my boyfriend ordered the Ttukbaegi Bulgogi. This is my boyfriend's favorite as he had already tried this restaurant before me. The beef is full of flavor while the broth is very sweet and goes well with the rice that comes with the meal.
