Boiling Point (Burnaby)

After my initial visit to Boiling Point at their Richmond location, I had the chance to try the place again in Burnaby. I personally like the look of the layout at this location more because most of the tables are segregated into booths for more privacy.

Pearl House Restaurant

After our relatively positive visit to the neighboring restaurant Pearl Hot Pot (review here), I thought it would be a good idea to have a meal at Pearl House, the regular taiwanese restaurant counterpart to Pearl Hot Pot.

Boiling Point (Richmond)

One summer day, my friends and I made our way to Boiling Point in Richmond. Had I been aware of their other location in Burnaby, I would've suggested going there instead (oops!).

Pearl Hot Pot

A while back ago, my boyfriend and I went to Pearl Hot Pot for the first time, after hearing about the individual hot pots that are served here. The restaurant is set up in a unique fashion with a large oblong bar in the middle, allowing the waitresses to easily serve the guests.

Pearl Castle

After our dinner at Haroo (review here), we decided to cool off with dessert at Pearl Castle since it was such a hot day. My taxi driver Hubert ordered an almond milk tea while my boyfriend and I shared a bowl of shaved ice.

Lao Shan Dong

Lao Shan Dong is a Taiwanese restaurant that is known for its beef noodle soup. It also happens to be the sister restaurant of the ever so popular The One Restaurant (review here).

Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot

Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot is the perfect spot for a hot and inexpensive bowl of noodles on a rainy day. Although there are also appetizers, rice dishes and drinks on the menu, most people that come here either order the "Korean" hot pots or the "Korean Style BBQ with Rice." I personally wouldn't say these two dishes are authentic at all since the restaurant is run by Chinese folk but the food is inspired by Korean cuisine.

The One

This Taiwanese restaurant was introduced to me by my sister who seems to always have good food recommendations (eg. Deer Garden - review here). My first time at The One was two years ago, back when it had only been newly opened for almost half a year. I had ordered the Thai Hot Pot and was super impressed by its massive size AND it tasted great! Since then, I've been at The One a handful of times but only took pictures on two occasions.

Ali Shan Restaurant

Ali Shan has been a long time favorite of mine, not only for the cheap and yummy food, but also because of its convenient location by Metrotown. This visit was my first time in months due to the restaurant's relocation from one side of Crystal Mall to the other. The newly renovated restaurant is much larger than its former hole-in-the-wall-sized location. In previous visits to the old Ali Shan restaurant, they would always be packed and despite their relocation now, it was still the same during this visit.

My bf ordered the Deep Fried Chicken Nuggets with Rice, otherwise known as salt and pepper chicken. The meal comes with rice topped off with a sunny side up fried egg, as well as two side dishes of the day.
