Jumbo Sushi

Jumbo Sushi is a small Japanese restaurant that is a part of a strip mall found on No. 3 Road in Richmond. We ordered what we wanted from off the wall, which was plastered full of photos of various menu items, including an extensive collage of their special rolls.

From top to bottom we have the Epic Roll, the Caterpillar Roll, the Firecracker Roll and lastly, the Jumbo Spicy Tuna Roll.

The epic roll is deep fried with beef, bacon and cream cheese. The addition of cream cheese did nothing for me, as I'm usually not a fan of it in sushi anyways. Despite its name and the atypical use of bacon, I found this roll to be pretty meh as a whole.

The caterpillar roll was as expected, with the usual avocado and unagi present.

The firecracker roll consists of just tuna, deep fried, and finished with spicy mayo, teriyaki and sriracha sauce, as well as green onions. Pretty simple but quite the yummy combination.

As for the jumbo spicy tuna roll, it was my favorite item of the night. There was tuna sashimi and cucumber on the inside while it was topped with more tuna sashimi, spicy sauce and fried tempera batter.

All in all, I have nothing negative to say about Jumbo Sushi. The rolls might not be the best that you'll ever have but at their prices, I can't complain. If you're in the area, this is the place to drop by for a quick and very affordable sushi fix.
