Rodney's Oyster House

After bugging my boyfriend for weeks, we finally got our raw oyster fix at Rodney's Oyster House in Yaletown. We arrived within the first half hour of their low-tide special (every day from 3 to 6 pm, except Sundays) and managed to beat the rush that followed some minutes later. Our hostess brought us to a table on the second floor, giving us the perfect view of the oyster shucking done below.

First, we had two dozen oysters for $1.50 each between the two of us. I was pleased that they were fresh and not too dinky in size. The raw oysters were served with slices of lemon, horse radish (which we didn't touch) and an array of sauces. Both my boyfriend and I enjoyed the Seawitch sauce the best. Another one worth mentioning was appropriately named "Back from Hell!", which left our tongues burning for a good couple of minutes.

The second dish we ordered were Steamed Mussels that were cooked in a buttery garlic, dill and wine concoction. This was the perfect portion to share between two people and it was eaten up just as quick as the oysters.

Also, at the beginning of our meal, a plate of complimentary bread was served. Nom!

All in all, I really enjoyed the ambiance, service and most importantly, the food at Rodney's and I can't wait to return for more during their low-tide special!
