Asakusa Sushi

Asakusa Sushi is yet another Japanese restaurant situated on the same strip along Kingsway as the better known restaurant, Sushi Garden. Personally, I would say that Asakusa is similar to but also a step up from Samurai Sushi. The portions here are quite large, even for the specialty rolls.

Beef Teriyaki Combo with Tempura

BC Roll that comes with the Beef Teriyaki Combo
The first thing we ordered was the Beef Teriyaki Combo. This came with miso soup, beef teriyaki, tempura and a BC roll.

Pictured here is the Golden Roll (left), which consists of chop scallop with smoke salmon and avocado on top and also the Dragonfly Roll (right). This was basically a dynamite roll topped with unagi and avocado. I probably would have enjoyed both the golden roll and dragonfly roll much more if they had actually been smaller.

Next up was the Asakusa Roll or the house roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The house roll was not bad but I didn't like the spicy tuna roll very much because first of all, I'm not a fan of tuna sashimi and also, it was much too big.

We noticed a photo of their Beef Tataki being advertised on the wall so we decided to order a plate to try. This was okay at best but I actually prefer the beef tataki from Fish on Rice more.

Overall, I would probably think of revisiting Asakusa in the future, especially if the wait at Sushi Garden was far too long.
